Gender Stereotypes in Music Videos

*Women eganged in significantly more excplicit, sexual and passive behaviour.
*Men engaged in significantly more dominant and aggressive behaviour.
*Men represented as independant, independant, adventurous, unemotional and competent.
*Women portrayed as decorative objects that dance, pose and do not play instruments.
*Stereotypical gendered occupations apparent, i.e. males as firefighters, mechanics, and women as Cheeleaders, waitresses, in narrative based music videos.
*Women represented as objects of sexual advances or sexual objects.
*Sex role stereotyping and negative attitudes towards females.
*Women more likely to be presented in provocative and revealing clothing
