Bow Wow’s real name is Shad Gregory Moss. He grew up in Columbus, Ohio and was born on March 9, 1987 to parents Alfonso and Teresa Moss. Bow Wow started rapping at the age of 5 and used the stage name Kid Gangsta. In 1993, he was discovered by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre while performing at a Chronic Tour in Columbus. The two rappers gave him the name Lil’ Bow Wow and later on introduced him to Jermaine Dupri who eventually became his mentor
His career went on a fast track from then on by becoming an opening act to Dr. Dre and landing a spot on the Death Row Record’s roster of artists. He also appeared on Snoop Dogg’s single Doggystyle. Bow Wow released his debut album in 2000 entitled Beware of the Dog which includes his first number 1 hit Bounce With Me. This was soon followed by other chart topping albums such as Doggy Bag in 2001, Unleashed in 2003 and Wanted in 2005. His latest album The Price of Fame was released on December 2006 and already has a number 9 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with its first single Shortie Like Mine. Aside from his own albums, Bow Wow also contributed to Will Smith’s album Wild Wild West of which Smith has a movie of the same title, and was featured on artists song and album such as Jojo’s song Baby It’s You , and Miss Nana’s album I Got The Hood, Volume I. He is set to release a new album in 2007 entitled Remember/Sincerely.
